My Journey Managing Reflux Naturally: A Personal Health Update (Part One)

It all started back in February when I grabbed lunch from a local takeaway. What seemed like a simple meal turned into a cascade of symptoms I’d never experienced before — intense bloating, burping, and stubborn indigestion.

At first, I thought it might have been H. pylori or simply a meal that didn’t agree with me — there were bean sprouts and other ingredients that can sometimes trigger digestive distress. But from that day on, I began dealing with acid reflux and persistent bloating that just wouldn’t settle.

Over time, I realised that the bloating was likely putting pressure on my small hiatal hernia, worsening the reflux — especially at night. When I spoke to doctors, the immediate suggestion was to start omeprazole (a PPI). But I knew that simply suppressing acid wouldn’t solve the underlying issue or help my gut recover.

So, I decided to take a more natural approach.

Focusing on Gut Support and Simplicity

I switched to a carnivore diet — cutting out irritants, simplifying digestion, and allowing my body to reset. Alongside that, I focused on key supplements that I trust and use through my own store, each chosen to support specific parts of digestion and gut balance.

🧂 Love Life Electrolyte Balance

When transitioning to a low-carb or carnivore diet, electrolytes can drop quickly. This formula helps maintain hydration, muscle function, and nerve balance, all of which affect digestion and stomach pressure. It was essential for preventing fatigue and keeping my diaphragm and gut muscles functioning properly.

💪 NoWay Collagen Protein

Collagen is rich in glycine and proline, amino acids that support gut lining integrity and connective tissue repair. I used it as a clean, dairy-free protein source that digests easily and supports recovery, especially important when your stomach is sensitive.

🧫 Bravo Probiotic Yogurt

Bravo contains a unique combination of beneficial bacteria and immune-supporting compounds that help restore microbiome balance. Because reflux and bloating are often linked to microbial imbalance, Bravo became a daily addition to gently support gut ecology and calm inflammation.

🌿 GutRight Modbiotic by ATP Science

GutRight contains plant polyphenols and modbiotics that help reset microbial balance and reduce excess fermentation — perfect if you suspect SIBO or dysbiosis might be contributing to bloating. It works by supporting microbial diversity rather than wiping bacteria out completely, which helped me reduce gas and pressure naturally.

Taking Back Control

After several weeks of this approach, I’m not completely healed yet — but I’ve gained far more control over my symptoms without needing PPIs. My digestion feels steadier, bloating is down, and my sleep is improving.

I’ve also learned that long-term acid suppression can cause nutrient malabsorption, gut imbalance, and even slower protein digestion — so I’m grateful to be managing things with natural support instead.

Healing takes patience, but I’m finally feeling progress.

What’s Next

This is just Part One of my journey. In the next update, I’ll share what I’ve learned about meal timing, sleep positioning, and vagus-nerve relaxation techniques that have made a real difference to reflux at night.

If you’re going through something similar, I hope my experience encourages you to explore your own natural path. Healing takes time — but your body wants to get better when you give it the right support.

To be continued…
